Our Business
A family owned business for over 85 years, Hydramec has earned one of the highest reputations in the industry.
In 1920 Arthur Cornwell designed a single tool, the wheel-puller, used by garage mechanics to remove wheels from vehicles. The company, then known as C&G Wheel Puller, was established by Cornwell and Lawrence Grames, a machinist, to manufacture the innovative cast iron tool. A short time after the development of this tool, Snap-On Tools began buying the wheel puller to sell on their product line. Since that time, Snap-On has been our largest customer, and they stand behind the work that we produce.
Over the years, the company has greatly diversified and now manufactures an extensive range of products for automotive, industrial, and aircraft applications. In 1987, since wheel pullers represented a very small fraction of the business, C&G Wheel Puller was renamed Hydramec to better reflect its wide range of products.
